It's that time of the year again. Brecknock Hall at Peconic Landing in Greenport is looking for this year's group of applicants for its annual Veterans Day Wedding Giveback. The lucky couple that is chosen will win the wedding of their dreams, at absolutely no cost. To qualify, at least one partner must have served or is currently serving with the U.S. Armed Forces.
This year's Veterans Day Wedding Giveback will take place on November 12, 2017 in honor of Veterans Day, and to celebrate all the Veterans who have served our country. Up to 80 guests will be permitted to share in the love and merriment of the lucky couple.
U.S. Coast Guard Boatswain Mate First Class Patrick Rogers of Manorville and his wife Jessica tied the knot during the 2016 event and it was a day they will truly never forget.
"We are so grateful to have been able to be married and celebrate our wedding at such a beautiful venue with our closest family and friends," said Jessica Rogers. "We will never forget the wonderful feelings of joy and happiness that we felt throughout the entire day!"
The Veterans Day Wedding Giveback began back in 2011 as a thank-you for all military personnel on Long Island. Their contributions are hugely appreciated and Peconic Landing wanted to find a unique way to give back to those brave heroes. This event is made possible by the generous contributions from local businesses and organizations who donate approximately $60,000 worth of services and in-kind donations. Their time, gifts and talents are greatly appreciated in making this possible.
Peconic Landing CEO Robert J. Syron is absolutely ecstatic for this year's event. "This giveaway has become a highlight event for our community and the veteran members involved. We are proud to host this celebration in support of the men and women serving our country," said Syron. "We want to thank all of our business partners who help make this day possible."
A panel of Peconic Landing veterans will be choosing this year's lucky lovebirds. They judge the applicants based on seniority in the Armed Forces, special military honors, contributions to local community and the unique love story of each couple. An interview is required in applying for this contest, so couples must be available in person or through Skype.
Interested applicants must apply by Friday, April 21. So hurry up and don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity. Any couples who have previously entered are highly recommended to re-enter and try their luck one more time.
