To pay tribute to local veterans,
Kent Animal Shelter is offering a special discount to veterans throughout May as part of "Paws for Patriots."
"The shelter would like to recognize Long Island's veterans for their special service to our country and for protecting our freedom," expressed
Pam Green, Executive Director of the Kent Animal Shelter.
Kent notes that the positive benefits of interacting with a fury, four legged friend have been well documented and "Paws for Patriots" will hopefully help returning vets form an unforgettable bond with an adorable shelter pet, while giving the homeless animals a loving, forever home.
The shelter will offer veterans 50 percent off adoptions fee on all adult cats and dogs. All adopted pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped.
The Calverton-based animal shelter is also part of the
CrowdRise Giving Tower Holiday Challenge. Their crowdfunding goal is to raise enough money to feed 100 pets at the shelter each month in 2015, by raising $10 per pet. To achieve their mission, they must raise $12,000. To support their crowdfunding efforts, visit

Kent Animal Shelter is located at 2259 River Road in Calverton. For more information, call 631-727-5731 or visit www.kentanimalshelter.com.
