Calling all engaged military couples starting the wedding planning process. Brecknock Hall at
Peconic Landing is hosting a contest with the chance to win your dream wedding, free of charge.
"This opportunity is a great example of a community coming together to show its gratitude to the men and women who serve our country," said Robert J. Syron, President and CEO of Peconic Landing. "Hosting the Veterans Wedding Giveback reflects our appreciation for the sacrifices they make."
Sponsored by Peconic Landing, the annual Veterans Wedding Giveback started in 2011 as a way for the East End area to honor our military personnel and recognize them for their service. Currently in its fifth year, the contest has become a community affair, with local businesses sponsoring the event, as well as contributing items. Volunteers donate the time, talents and services that help make the special day truly a memorable affair.
The contest is open to current and veteran service members; at least one partner must have served or be serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. The winning bride and groom will be picked by a panel of Peconic Landing's veteran residents, who evaluate applicants based on the number of years served, special military honors, and each couple's exceptional love story.

Last year's winning couple, Robert William Lees III and Amy Hughes, described their "big day" as one-of-a-kind.
"Our wedding was the most amazing time. It was a Gatsby-style wedding to which we could have never managed on our own," shared Ms. Hughes. "Everything was amazing; the food, music and flowers, right down to the photographer. It was a dream come true for me and my husband. We were so happy we filled out the application and actually won!"
The nuptials will take place on Sunday, November 8, 2015, in celebration of Veteran's Day, and will accommodate up to 80 guests. Each year, the contest typically provides an estimated $60,000 worth of services and in-kind donations. So far, vendors who have signed on for the 5th Annual Veterans Wedding Giveback include Ross Schaudel Catering, Southold Fish Market, Allison Pressler Professional Skin Care, Caroline Rocchetta Photography, Chap's Corner, Christopher Michael Catering, East End Expressions, Front Street Station, Fantasia Bridal, A Flippin Good time, North Fork Coffee Roasters, Greenport Harbor Brewery, Greenporter, Joanna Rallis Artisan Floral Design, Kim Jon Floral Designs, Lasting Footprints - Reverend Sarah Margaret, Macari Vineyards, Serenity Farm Table Rentals, and MVP DJ.
