"At Suffolk County Community College
we celebrate Earth Day 365 days a year," expressed Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) President Dr. Shaun L. McKay
. "We are focused on sustainability across all our campuses and today's unveiling of the electric car chargers here at our Eastern Campus is a small part of all we do to leave as small a foot print as possible upon Mother Earth."
On Wednesday, April 24th, President Dr. Shaun L. McKay was joined by SCCC's Executive Director of Sustainability Programs Nick Palumbo
at the College's Eastern Campus in Riverhead to unveil a pair of electric vehicle charging stations. To commemorate the Earth Day festivities, Dr. McKay attached the charger to a plug-in Toyota
Each station can quickly charge two electric or hybrid/electric vehicles and is connected to the Chargepoint Network for recovery of utility costs. The charging stations were installed by Suffolk with the hopes of encouraging the use of environmentally friendly vehicles by students, faculty and staff. The charges are also open to the general public.
Suffolk County Community College will install electric vehicle chargers at its Selden and Brentwood campuses later this year.
