Once again a member of the
Peconic Bay Medical Center's (PBMC) distinguished staff is making news in the medical community. On June 7th, PBMC Health's Director of Medical Education George R. Ruggiero, DO was installed as President of the Suffolk County Medical Society. The installation took place at the prestigious society's 207th Annual Meeting.
"The role of the Medical Society has become so important. We work very hard to represent the physician, as well as advocate the needs our patients. We fight for your [physicians] concerns", said Dr. Ruggiero.
"We need to provide an infrastructure which will allow greater representation of our society to our medical community", Dr. Ruggiero continued, "With this concept in mind, I will promise to reach out to all of the medical staffs of all of the Suffolk County hospitals to improve the flow of communication from hospital to society and from society to hospital."
The mission of the Suffolk County Medical Society is to act as the premier professional medical association for the physicians of Suffolk County by maintaining a representative and united organization to consider and act upon matters affecting the practice of medicine and public health in Suffolk County; cultivating and advancing education in the science of medicine while maintaining a high standard of integrity, honor and courtesy in the medical profession.
Andrew Mitchell, President & CEO of PBMC Health and Peconic Bay Medical Center stated, "PBMC Health is very proud of the role Dr. Ruggiero has taken as President of the Suffolk County Medical Society. I am confident that the physicians in Suffolk County will benefit greatly under his dynamic leadership."
Dr. Ruggiero is board-certified in family practice and is a graduate of New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also practices privately in Shoreham, NY, which is one of the outpatient sites dedicated to the education of PBMC's students and residents.
