The Peconic Landing
's "Adopt a Squad" program, recently collected donations of everyday items from residents and staff to send to Bravo
Company, a courageous band of soldiers stationed in southern Afghanistan. Bravo Company is situated in a small desert outpost, and the soldiers spend most of their time in the field, usually returning to base every 10 days.
Through the "Adopt a Squad" program, nineteen boxes, weighing about 13 pounds each, were filled with gum, baby wipes, canned nuts, beef jerky, protein bars, licorice, disposable razors, powdered laundry detergent, Q-tips, magazines and playing cards and sent to Bravo Company. After receiving the packages one soldier wrote, "The guys were overwhelmed with Peconic Landing's generosity and kindness. They couldn't believe all the goodies. It was like a birthday and Christmas all in one day! They send thanks and love. They were indeed moved."
