Highlights from this year's Halloween spooktacular will include trick or treating, a Jack O'Lantern Walk, pumpkin patch, entertainment, costume parade, coffin races, and more.
Friday, October 27:
7 p.m. - Yoga Pants Band at Joe's Garage
8 p.m. - Dead Dance Ball at the
Suffolk Theater
8 p.m. - Halloween Masquerade Ball at the Long Island Aquarium
Saturday, October 28:
12 to 4 p.m. - Bats, Barnacles & Broomsticks at the Long Island Aquarium
12 to 5:30 p.m. - Pumpkin Carving, behind 117 East Main Street on the Peconic Riverfront (First 100 participants get a free pumpkin to carve and display in Jack O'Lantern Walk)
2:30 to 4:30 p.m. - Trick or Treating on Main Street
3 p.m. - Coffin Racers Pre-Race Day Contest, sponsored independently by Joe's Garage and Riverhead Raceway (Racers are welcome to show off their work and enter in a pre-race contest, then showcase your "coffins" in annual Halloween parade)
4 to 6:30 p.m. - Enjoy specials created just for you by local restaurants
6:30 p.m. Costume Parade kicks off at Griffing Avenue at Main Street (participants line up at 5:30 p.m.). Parade ends in a "Parade Show" on the Peconic Riverfront.
7 p.m. - Elderly Brothers Band at Joe's Garage
8 p.m. - A "That 70's Band" Halloween at the Suffolk Theater
Sunday, October 29:
12 p.m. - "Trunk or Treat" - sponsored by the Riverhead Chamber of Commerce (A spectacle of trunks decorated by Halloween folk from which you can get goodies and enjoy some random, oddly placed entertainment)
1 p.m. - Check-in for 1st annual
Halloween Fest Coffin Races racers
2:30 p.m. - 1st annual Halloween Fest Coffin Races start at Griffing Avenue, between Court Street and 2nd Street
7:30 p.m. - Time warp down to the Suffolk Theater to see
The Rocky Horror Picture Show on the BIG Screen
