Over 20 North Fork restaurants will be featured in the 5th annual Shellabration, presented by Greenport BID, on Saturday, December 3rd and Sunday, December 4th. From 12 to 4 p.m., the East End eateries will be serving up locally caught seafood centric dishes that will be paired with local wine and craft beer. All proceeds from the Shellabration wristbands will support the Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program
's SPAT Program and Back to the Bays Initiative.
"Shellabration is my favorite event of the year!" expressed Kimberly Barbour, Marine Program Outreach Manager, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County. "Who wouldn't want to spend a weekend in Greenport strolling around and visiting over 20 restaurants to enjoy exquisitely prepared local bay scallop, clam, and oyster dishes paired with pours of our region's finest wine and craft beer? I'm not alone in thinking this as we reached capacity at 1,000 participants last year, and expect to do this same this year."
This event is held to support local businesses, restaurants, and the marine environment of Greenport. Wristbands will give you access to the first tasting of the day - a complimentary glass of Greenport Harbor Ale, as well as a SPAT sponsored raw bar tasting of clams and oysters at the Greenport Harbor Brewing Company
(234 Carpenter Street, Greenport). Additionally, your wristband grants you entry to the two-day restaurant walk, where tourgoers can purchase $5 small plates that showcase local shellfish and $3 pours.
"We recommend prospective 'Shellabrants' purchase their wristbands in advance," noted Barbour. "Limited wristbands may be available on the day of, but we sold out last year so it's highly recommended that you reserve in advance to ensure your participation in this year's Shellabration."
