On Saturday, October 29th, Riverhead will come alive with "things that go bump in the night" during its Halloween Fest
2016, presented by the Riverhead BID.
Offering spooky scenes for all ages, the town-wide haunted happenings will begin with Bats, Barnacles & Broomsticks at the Long Island Aquarium from 10 a.m. to 4 pm. Along with trick or treating throughout the Aquarium, children can watch the adorable Costume Penguins Parade, add to their Halloween ensemble with face painting, enjoy author readings and a puppet show by Katie's Puppets, stop by the craft and game stations and explore the "Pirate's Nightmare Haunted House". More trick or treating will take place in Downtown Riverhead from 2 to 5 p.m.
Once the kids have collected enough Halloween booty to spark a long lasting sugar high, enjoy a proper meal in Downtown. Several local restaurants will be offering spine-tingling specials from 5 to 6:30 p.m., in honor of the seasonal spectacular.
Halloween Fest's main attraction - the Halloween Parade - will step off from Griffing Avenue at Main Street at 6:30 p.m. If you've got some time to kill before kooky characters and superstars march through town, head to the Vail Leavitt Theater where you can watch a collection of short films as you wait.
"The Riverhead BID is looking forward to it's 3rd annual parade and trick or treating and looking forward to our first annual Jack O' Lantern Display," shared Diane Tucci
, Executive Director, Riverhead BID. "We hope the community enjoys what we are putting together for them and that people from all over the Island will come to our event. It's great for kids, families and adults too!"
