On Friday, July 8th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., the East End Arts School will be offering a free Instrument Petting Zoo for children ages 3 to 5.

Education Director at East End Arts, Diane Giardi comments, "We are very excited to host the 'Instrument Petting Zoo' presented by Stonybrook University School of Music Musicians, and made possible through The Staller Center for The Arts. Pre-school children will have the opportunity to learn and experience the joy of being introduced to numerous instruments."

Children will have the opportunity to "pet" the instruments, learning how to use the bow of a violin and make music through a recorder. The first half of the program will feature professional musicians from Stony Brook University's Department of Music teaching children how to play orchestra instruments. Afterwards, children will get to play with the instruments themselves! Children will receive a musical gift before they leave. This is a great opportunity to get children involved and familiarized with the art of music.

Parents are invited to learn more about new musical offerings at the East End Arts School that will begin in the Fall while attending the program. The new class, MUSIKGARTEN, will be offered for two age groups. Family Music for Babies will be offered for children ages 0-18 months, and Sing with Me for Toddlers will be available for children 18 months to 4-years-old.

Funding for the petting zoo is made possible by the Staller Center's Endowment for the Arts. Advanced registration is encouraged.

East End Arts School is located at 141 East Main Street in Riverhead. For more information regarding the free event or the East End Arts' new class offerings, visit www.eastendartsorg.net
