North Fork Independence Day Weekend Fireworks, Heritage Day Happenings, Demolition Derby And More

July 4th weekend on the East End is full of outdoor barbecues, relaxing in the sun, and of course, parades and fireworks! This Independence Day, don't miss these red, white, and blue fireworks, as they light up skies across the North Fork:

1. From Thursday, June 30th through Monday, July 4th, the Greenport Fire Department, in conjunction with the Relief Hose Co. and Phenix Hook & Ladder Company, will host its Annual Carnival and Fireworks Show. The carnival will feature kid-friendly rides, fun games, food, and a fireworks show starting at 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 2nd. 2. On Saturday, July 2nd, Riverhead Raceway (1797 Old Country Road, Riverhead) will host their 66th Anniversary Celebration, featuring fireworks beginning at 9 p.m. The event will also include a Demolition Derby. For more information, visit www.riverheadraceway.com.

3. The Oysterponds Historical Society will host their 2016 Heritage Day on Sunday, July 3rd from 12 to 3 p.m. on Village Lane in Orient. Join them in celebrating the history and culture of the North Fork with a parade, Declaration of Independence reading, a bicycle decorating contest, and refreshments. 4. The 59th Annual Shelter Island Fireworks Show will be held at Crescent Beach on Shelter Island on Saturday, July 9th. Fireworks by Grucci will be on display beginning at 9:30 p.m. Visit twww.shelterislandchamber.org for more information.

So, make sure you celebrate Independence Day the right way with lots of bright red, white and blue displays!
