On Friday, March 4th, the North Fork Breast Health Coalition (NFBHC) is presenting its Second Annual Pink Pearl Gala. Taking place at East Wind in Wading River, the festive evening will feature cocktails, dinner, an awards ceremony, dancing with music by DJ Phil, and of course, plenty of pink and pearls. News 12's Shari Einhorn, who often focuses on health-related stories, will return as the soiree's emcee.
"The gala is a key fundraiser for the NFBHC so that we can continue to support breast-cancer patients," shared Melanie McEvoy, Pink Pearl Gala Chair. "As a breast cancer survivor, and recipient of their services, I can tell you that these programs are important to people going through this ordeal." She says gala goers from the inaugural happening are in for a pleasant surprise. "Besides, we expect it to be an even better party than last year," added McEvoy.
During the evening, North Fork Breast Health Coalition will recognize Dr. Louis J. Avvento, Dr. Alexander Zuhoski and Dr. Deepali Sharma of Eastern Long Island Hematology Oncology with the Pink Pearl Spirit Award for their continued commitment to the well-being of the East End community. Dr. Frank and Mary Ellen Adipietro will also be honored during the benefit with the Pink Pearl Community Service Award. Mrs. Adipietro founded the Shelter Island Annual 5K Breast Cancer Walk, and over the past 16 years, the fundraiser has raised over $300,000, split between the South Fork and North Fork Breast Health Coalitions.
The North Fork Breast Health Coalition is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to finding an answer to the high incidence of breast cancer in our area. Their main goal is to grow community awareness of the many issues related to fighting the disease, which kills over 180,000 women per year in the United States.
Tickets are $95.
East Wind is located at 5720 NY-25A in Wading River. For more information, call 631-208-8889 or visit www.northforkbreasthealth.org.
