Hallockville Museum Farm visitors are in for a frightful affair during a special Museum Tour and Storytelling Experience on Friday, October 30th. From 4:30 to 7:45 p.m., museumgoers can take a haunted pre-Halloween tour through the Hallock Homestead that will explore otherworldly tales that very few know about.
"This is a fun event for all ages to learn about the spookier side of historic folklore," shared Beth Motschenbacher, Assistant Director of Hallockville Museum Farm. "This is a one-of-a-kind experience that you can't find anywhere else."
The inaugural Halloween spooktacular is being brought to Hallockville by professional actress, costume designer and museum educator
Colette Gilbert, who based the haunted happening on historical fact, local folklore, and urban legend. Gilbert will be accompanied by East End-based professional actors John Hudson and
Alan Stewart, who have performed at North Fork Community Theatre, along with
Stephan Scheck, Phillip Reichert, and Kristin Guldi, who is co-producing the event, and also assists "Master Vampire"
Michael Disher at the
Southampton Cultural Center.
"The best actors on the North Fork will be in costumes as you've never seen them before, embodying characters from the past, all set in a historic home, illuminated by the flicker of candlelight," noted Motschenbacher.
The terrifying tour will unveil the spookier side of New England life in the 1800's, like the relatively unknown vampire epidemic, when loved ones of those who died from tuberculosis later exhumed their bodies because they were convinced that the bodies were being haunted by vampires, or the death of the Phantom British Officer, whose only sin was his loyalty to the king. Gilbert's interactive, entertaining and eerie event will no doubt show attendees a different, more mysterious side of Hallockville.
Tours will run every 15 minutes and last about 50 to 60 minutes.
