Do you cook with enough garlic that a vampire wouldn't dare to enter your home? Then join other garlic lovers at Garden of Eve in Riverhead for the 12th Annual Long Island Garlic Festival on Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Festival will showcase the best of "garliciana" through tastings, workshops, cooking demos, and contests. The family-friendly happening will also feature a Garlic and Craft Marketplace, exotic garlic-based bites, entertaining activities for all ages, hayrides, pony rides, farm animals, fiber arts, and more.
On Saturday, activities will include a garlic cooking demo, "Poor Couples Food Guide," a "How to Grow Garlic" workshop with Phil from Biophilia Organic Farm, a Junior Garlic
Iron Chef Competition, "Making Spanish Rice" with Vivian from Tainos Sofrito & Mojo, a Garlic Eating Contest, Traditional Cajun style Gumbo by Kevin Humphrey, owner of "Old Thyme Barbecue," and music from Bruce McDonald, LI Bluegrass Quartet and Buddy Merriam & BackRoads.
On Sunday, fairgoers can attend a "How to Grow Garlic" workshop with Chris from Garden of Eve Organic Farm, as well as another garlic demo, Junior Garlic Iron Chef Competition, "Making Spanish Rice" with Vivian from Tainos Sofrito & Mojo, Garlic Eating Contest, and Traditional Cajun style Gumbo by Kevin Humphrey, owner of "Old Thyme Barbecue." Red River Ramblers, He Bird She Bird, and
Free Grass Union will provide live music throughout the day.
Admission is $5 per person and free for children under 6.
