Many sniffing noses and wagging tails will be present in Greenport Village to commemorate the 'Grand Re-Opening' of Harbor Pet, which is now owned by Kimberly Loper. From Friday, August 15 through Sunday, August, 17, 2014, the lush pet-boutique is hosting various exciting activities to celebrate.
Loper is an experienced pet professional that is active in the pet community and who also owns 'Life is Grruff
,' a company that makes all-natural gourmet dog treats for your cherished canine companion. She has completely refurbished the store and now has lots of new merchandise and a much larger selection of items for pet owners to choose from including food, treats, bones, toys, leashes and collars.
"Hosting this event, working with fellow North Fork pet professionals and giving back to the community is something I wanted to do since taking over the store in late April of this year," said Loper. "Our Grand Re-Opening Celebration is a great way for dog owners to meet other dog owners and pet experts in the area, maybe even adopt a new four-legged family member and have a great time while also giving back at the same time!"
The weekend will begin on Friday, August 15th at 10 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony at Harbor Pet. Greenport Village officials, many adoptable and adorable dogs from the North Fork Animal Welfare League
(NFWAL), leading pet industry professionals and of course Kim Loper and her family and friends will be in attendance for the ceremony.
Throughout the rest of the day, adoptable dogs will be meeting and greeting potential owners until 2 p.m. Dogs and their owners are then invited to have a good time from 3 to 5 p.m. for a furbulous 'Yappy Hour!' Proud pet parents can get their pup's portrait drawn by the very talented painter, Linda Ozelis. Each pet portrait will cost $15. Food and drinks will be served for both humans and canines, including free samples of 'Life is Grruff," treats, sure to be popular among the pooches.
On Saturday, doors open at 10 a.m., and from 12 to 2p.m. owners can 'Ask the Trainer' from the North Fork School of Dogs any of their dog training questions. From 3 to 5 p.m., owners have the opportunity to get their dog's pictures taken by none other than the North Fork's very own professional pet photographer, The Puparazzi a.k.a. Judy McCleery. Pictures cost $10 per dog and will be printed right then and there for owners to take home. Feel free to dress your dog up for the photo or have your dog's picture taken in the Kissing Booth.
The weekend celebration will also include free samples of various brands of pet food and raffle baskets stocked with pet-friendly goodies. Store specials and discounts on select merchandise will be offered throughout the celebration. A portion of the proceeds from the weekend sales will be donated to the North Fork Animal Welfare League.
