The 2nd annual Long Island Potato Festival is returning to the East End on Sunday, August 9th. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., pay homage to Long Island's long-standing heritage of potato growers, farms, and products at Calverton Links during a "spudtastic" afternoon that even the biggest couch potato will love.
The event will showcase over 30 exhibitors, food trucks, live music, activities, seminars, and contests, with craft beverages, fresh food, and artisan products available for purchase. Think your potato skills are up to par with the best? Enter one of the Festival's contests, like Best Amateur Potato Salad, The Great Potato Peeling Race, The Mashed Potato Sculpting Contest or The Mashed Potato Eating Contest. Still need a little schooling when it comes to the yummy starch? Stop by one of the free seminars that will cover Cooking with Potatoes and How It's Made: Potato Vodka. The afternoon will also include live music by the Joe Bayer Band and Mr. Potato Head Decorating.
Tickets are $20.
Calverton Links is located at 149 Edwards Avenue in Calverton. For more information, visit www.lipotatofest.com.
