The North Fork Community Theatre (NFCT) will pay homage to Youth On Stage's (YOS) 50th anniversary with a special virtual showcase on Friday, August 14. The
50 Years of Youth On Stage: A Celebratory Performance was originally supposed to take place on Friday, August 7, however it was postponed due to Tropical Storm Isaias.
"After months of unknown, there is one thing the NFCT Youth On Stage production team was certain about: the arts are an incredible way to provide comfort and normality in a time of fear," Chelsea Chizever, who is on the
50 Years of Youth On Stage: A Celebratory Performance production team, noted. "For the past 50 years, the Youth On Stage program has been a place for young adults ages 14-22 to go to to engage in the arts, put on amazing performances, and most importantly, make lifelong friendships while learning life skills such as trust, acceptance, and leadership."
Starting at 7:00 p.m., a montage of beloved past performances and performers will commemorate the momentous milestone live. The NFCT team will present more than 20 songs from previous YOS shows. The evening will also include a chat with cast and production team members.
Alumni, both near and far, will be featured in the fęte.
50 Years of Youth On Stage: A Celebratory Performance headliners will include Meghan Duffy, Caleb Foley, Micky Kalich, Kathleen Kelly, Gabriela Kuklinski, Lily Kutner, Georgia Kuzmech, David Lopez, Arianna McMorris, Alexandra Meli, Olivia Meyer, Maeve Meyers, Kat Motlenski, Jocelyn Podlas, Sarah Scarbrough, Justin Stuart, Brianna Tapia, Sydney Thorp, and Haley Unger.
"This was a unique year for us no doubt, but we are extremely proud of our youth for coming back and being more dedicated than ever. This summer our youths had the opportunity to step into many different leadership opportunities such as tech, filming, choreography, design, and community outreach," Chizever shared. "Each member attended daily rehearsals with proper social distancing and CDC guidelines in place, and then continued through a tech week, and week of recording. What they were able to produce is an amazing celebration of our theater's history."
The production team is made up of Chizever, Corinne Araneo, Brett Chizever, Liz Liszanckie and Jenna Spates.
