Annual North Fork Variety Show To Showcase Stand-Up, Skits, Solos, And More

Nicole Barylski

North Fork Community Theatre (NFCT) members will razzle-dazzle East End audiences throughout the first weekend of 2020 during NFCT's 16th annual Variety Show.

"We have plenty of solo, duet, and small group singing acts, but we also have skits, stand-up comedy, and dancing too," Liz Liszanckie explained.

Each year the weekend highlights established NFCT favorites and newbies. "The thing I love about The Variety Show is that not only do you get a variety of performances, but you also get a variety of new and veteran NFCT performers," Liszanckie shared. "Last year Stuart Whalen performed in The Variety Show for the first time, and since then he joined the casts of The Drowsy Chaperone and Little Women, and performed his own adaptation of A Christmas Carol in December."

Performances will be held on Friday, January 3 and Saturday, January 4 at 7:30 p.m., as well as Sunday, January 5 at 2:30 p.m.

"It's always nice to see someone try The Variety Show for the first time, only to realize that the NFCT has plenty of opportunities for them," Liszanckie said.

Proceeds from the weekend will champion local students interested in the arts. "For the past few years, the Variety Show has been organized by Mark and Lauren Sisson," Liszanckie relayed. "It raises money for the NFCT Scholarship Fund. We award six scholarships to eligible local high school seniors."

The 16th Annual Variety Show will feature Stuart Whalen, Marla Milne, David Scheer, John Yaiullo, Michael Krulder, Pamela Morris, Michael Bonti, Jen Brounstein, Sky Wowak, Ashley Domenech, Jenna Spates, Stephanie Meir, Emily Nelson, Abigail Rentas, Catherine Torlentino, Michael Drozd, Kat Motlenski, Colin Palmer, Ellie Eichenlaub, Brianna Kinnier, Nate Kalich, Micky Kalich, David Fellner, Mairead Jaffe, John Lovett, and Lauren Sisson. Several past NFCT scholarship recipients will also take the stage. They will include Kimberly Scheer, Alex Bradley, Kelli Baumann, Johnathan Montgomery-Medina, Chelsea Chizever, Corinne Araneo, Haley Unger, Justin Harris, John Bradley, Luke Sisson, and Mary Motto Kalich.

After the Variety Show, NFCT will turn its focus to Picasso at the Lapine Agile, the long-running Off Broadway comedy, which can be seen at North Fork Community Theatre Friday, January 17 through Sunday, February 2.

Admission to the 16th annual Variety Show is $15. Tickets will be available at the door.

North Fork Community Theatre is located at 12700 Old Sound Avenue in Mattituck. For more information, call 631-298-6328 or visit www.nfct.com.
