After taking up a brief residency at the Jamesport Meeting House while North Fork Community Theatre (NFCT) renovations were being completed, NFCT is back on its home turf.

"It is so exciting to be a part of the first show in the newly renovated North Fork Community Theatre! The new orchestra pit is amazing!" Mary Motto Kalich, NFCT Board of Directors President, relayed.

The Drowsy Chaperone will be the first production following the completion of the several year venue update.

"The renovations focused on theater technology (new orchestra pit, lighting infrastructure and rigging infrastructure) and facilities (new rehearsal room, sprinkler system, HVAC, etc.)," Motto Kalich, who will direct The Drowsy Chaperone, noted.

Based on the book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar, with music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, the production is a parody of 1920s American musical comedies. When the curtains rise, the audience finds a middle-aged theater fan who starts his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictional 1928 musical, which comes to life.

"This fun musical is about the 'Man in Chair' who plays his favorite record The Drowsy Chaperone and the musical comes to life in his apartment!" she added.

The Drowsy Chaperone will star Glenn Abramowitz, Corinne Araneo, Kelsey Cheslock, John Condon, Nancy DiGirolamo, Mike Drozd, Meghan Duffy, Mike Hipp, Michael Krulder, David Lopez, Katrina Lovett, Eric Momente, Laura Pearsall, Jocelyn Podlas, Kierra Prentiss, Jenna Spates, Marion Stark, Amanda Summers, Haley Unger, and Stuart Whalen.

Karen Hochstedler will serve as Musical Director, with Lorraine Warren producing and Assistant Director Chelsea Chizever. Jenna Spates and Chelsea Chizever choreographed the production, while Dee Andes provided costume design, Mike Hipp led set design and Liz Liszanckie spearheaded set decoration.

Performances will take place on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. The show will run from Thursday, May 16 through Sunday, June 2. An opening night reception prior to the opening night performance will take place at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $25. There will also be Student Rush tickets available for $20 at the box office, beginning 10 minutes before each performance. These tickets are subject to availability.

North Fork Community Theatre is located at 12700 Sound Avenue in Mattituck. For more information, call 631-298-4500 or visit www.nfct.com.
