Aid to the Developmentally Disabled (ADD) is hosting a very noteworthy affair on Thursday, May 17 in honor of a remarkable exhibition that is currently on display at Martha Clara Vineyards in Riverhead. The show features works from Susie Gach Peelle, who will be in attendance at the reception, nationally renowned artist, Max Makewell, and pieces created by ADD residents.

The soiree, which will take place from 6 to 9 p.m., will also serve as a fundraiser for ADD.

"We are thrilled to be able to host this art show and reception at Martha Clara Vineyards," shared Melissa Martin, ADD Marketing Coordinator. "It gives our organization the opportunity to showcase diverse creativity of both our own residents and professional artists who have supported our fundraising efforts and collaborated with us."

Gach Peelle is the granddaughter of WWI memorial sculptor Stephen Gach and daughter of international sculptor/painter George Gach. The Budapest born artist studied at Art Students League, the National Academy of Fine Art, and the Kokoschka School. Her works span across a multitude of mediums, including oil, acrylic, lead, conte, pen & ink, gouache, pastel, graphics, mosaics and painting on silk and ceramics, as does her subject matter, which revolves around portraits, the figure, animals, landscapes, still lifes and more. She has been featured in 18 solo exhibitions and has documented over 2,000 portraits.

Makewell, a Miami based painter who was born in New York City, began painting still lives with his mother and sculpting with his grandfather. Eventually, Makewell moved on to figure drawing and portraiture, studying with contemporary experts in Italy and the United States.

More recently, the artist has been dabbling in abstraction.

In addition to the exceptional artwork, the evening will include wine from Martha Clara, food by Lombardi's Love Lane Market, and live music by Dallas Louis.

"Our reception on May 17th will be a wonderful gathering of our community, infusing art, wine, food and artistic talent!" Martin added.

Admission to the reception is free.

ADD, a nonprofit organization that was established in 1980, is dedicated to "recognizing and identifying the special needs of the mentally and developmentally disabled persons and to provide them with a superior professional system of care and services in a homelike environment."

Martha Clara Vineyards is located at 6025 Sound Avenue in Riverhead. For more information, visit www.addny.org.
