As per usual, the first weekend of the year means North Fork Community Theatre (NFCT) will amuse and crack audiences up during NFCT's 14th Annual Variety Show. Performances will take place on Friday, January 5 and Saturday, January 6 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, January 7, at 2:30 p.m.

The seasonal extravaganza will encompass two hours of eye-catching dancing, magnificent music, uproarious comedy, and suspenseful drama - something for all.

Tickets are $15 at the door and all proceeds will support scholarships for local high school seniors.

Later in the month, NFCT will present Next to Normal, winner of three 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Score, and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize, which revolves around a seemingly "perfect" suburban household as they grapple with crisis and mental illness. While they may look like a typical American family, their lives are anything but ordinary.

Next to Normal can be seen Friday, January 19 through Sunday, February 4.

NFCT's mission is "to promote the study and improvement of, and to stimulate public interest in, the dramatic arts."

North Fork Community Theatre is located at 12700 Old Sound Avenue in Mattituck. For more information, call 631-298-6328 or visit www.nfct.com.
