For the North Fork Community Theatre (NFCT), the New Year brings a beloved tradition. Friday, January 1st through Sunday, January 3rd, the Mattituck-based group will be presenting their 12th annual Variety Show. This year's production is directed by Mark and Lauren Sisson, and will feature nearly 30 acts.
Opening night will also serve as the debut of an exhibit by local artist Nancy Willot, whose work will be on display at the theatre throughout the winter months. "The NFCT is very pleased to present a show of works on paper by artist Nancy Willot," shared Liz Liszanckie, NFCT President. "The show, entitled New Suffolk to New Mexico - Landscapes and Nature,
includes works in pastel and colored pencil." Theatergoers will most likely recognize a few of Willot's inspirations. "Nancy's home and sun-filled studio is in Southold and the show features a number of local subjects," added Liszanckie. "Nancy was the winner of the Best in Show award for her drawing of the theater in NFCT's juried art show last year."
Performances will take place on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. An opening reception for New Suffolk to New Mexico - Landscapes and Nature
will be held on Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets to the 12th annual Variety Show are $10, with proceeds benefiting the NFCT Scholarship, which will be awarded to high school seniors across the East End.
"All are invited and encouraged to attend an opening reception for the show at NFCT before the Variety Show performance," noted Liszanckie.
