In honor of Earth Day, North Fork/South Fork Weddings along with the Southampton Historical Museum and L. Marie Events are hosting the Green Your East End Wedding Showcase on April 27. From 12 to 4 p.m. eco-friendly brides can meet vendors offering green methods and services for weddings and special events.
“Your wedding is a perfect opportunity to share with your friends and loved ones your eco-friendly philosophies in a way that can be meaningful and relevant,” said North Fork/South Fork Weddings President Judy McCleery. “Hopefully you will win over a few more converts.”
This is the first wedding showcase of its kind to occur in either the Hamptons or the North Fork. Couples can learn ways to reuse, recycle and reduce their carbon footprint on their big day as well as also chat with Kate L. Harrison, author of “The Green Bride Guide.”
For brides worried that a green wedding will break the bank, Lisa Marie Blinn, owner of L. Marie Events and a certified green wedding planner, assures going green isn’t harmful to your budget. “There are plenty of fine quality eco-friendly products and services available at reasonable prices,” noted Blinn. “It’s just a matter of knowing where to look for them.”
For the Southampton Historical Museum, where the showcase will take place, the timing is perfect. They will soon reveal a new barn that will be offered as a destination for weddings and other special events. A rustic barn wedding is a huge wedding trend at the moment, and an easy location to incorporate earth-friendly and sustainably harvested items.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
The Southampton Historical Museum is located at 17 Meeting House Lane in Southampton. For more information about the Green Your East End Wedding Showcase call 631-606-0198 or visit www.southamptonhistoricalmuseum.org.
