one, a new retail concept destination, will take over the space formerly occupied by Elie Tahari in East Hampton.
“In our era of increasing online shopping and the decline of many multi-brand luxury retailers, one fills the void for clients looking to discover new brands, talents, and trends in person,” noted Founder Julianna Teeple.
The innovative 5,000 square foot luxury marketplace will feature a variety of brand, artist, designer, and artisan pop-ups. The immersive platform, geared towards discovery and bespoke client services, will boast the “newest and brightest, values-driven creators” spanning across accessories, art, fashion, jewelry, interiors, and print media.
“Brick and mortar shopping is a changing industry and an activity optimized by experiential elements that cannot fully be achieved online,” Teeple said. “My goal has been to structure a business that is built for the future – one that can withstand the sales and cost pressures faced by all physical retail – yet is built to survive thanks to its ability to deliver uniquely in-person experiences.”
one will highlight pieces from Anna Mason, Indi, Vanessa Bruno, NYMåNE, Thief and Heist, Albertus Swanepoel, Amanu Studio, Haight, Krewe, Estelle Colored Glass, Roll & Hill, Saved NY, Studio Proba, and Wilcoxson Brooklyn Ceramics, as well as vintage denim curated by Display Copy. There will also be a variety of local brands, such as Cynthia Rowley and Malia Mills and Social Studies. Import News will curate a print shop that encompasses rare titles from around the world, as well as international art, fashion, and design publications available exclusively from Import News.
one will also house the inaugural in-person outpost of Artsy, a leading global online art marketplace. one x Artsy will celebrate the works of both emerging and established artists, which will exclusively be available at one and Artsy, and present a plethora of events, such as book signings, trunk shows and capsule collections.
“Artsy helps millions of people discover and acquire art by the world’s leading artists through our industry leading mobile app and online marketplace,” noted Artsy CEO Mike Steib. “Our partnership with one is a natural extension of our brand and an exciting opportunity to physically bring Artsy to the Hamptons, a historic destination for some of the world’s most renowned artists.”
one will hold its grand opening on Saturday, May 29.
“Particularly in this moment, when we’ve all been stuck at home and behind screens for a year, one is a destination and an experience of discovery for all five senses that we are so excited to share with East Hampton,” Teeple added.
