Artisans From Across The East Coast To Descend Upon Montauk For Annual Craft Fairs

Olivia Rutigliano

The Montauk Historical Society's trio of craft fair weekends launches in July.

The first of the three annual shopping extravaganzas will take place Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, followed by Saturday, August 11 and Sunday, August 12, and Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23.

Founded in 1971 on the grounds of the Second House Museum, artisans from up and down the East Coast come to Montauk to display and sell their works.

"The Montauk Historical Society presents our 48th Annual Craft Fair on the grounds of the Second House Museum," shared Kathryn Nadeau, Montauk Historical Society President. "We will have food by gringo burrito, cold Montauk Brew Co. beer, and live music both days."

This year's vendors will include Sea and Silk Designs, Sabrosa Salt Sisters, the Society's long standing potter, Russel Pulick, Montauk posters, Sag Harbor Glass, Chocology, Two Jammin Chicks, natural skin care, Ditch Ink, photographers, fine art vendors, fine jewelry vendors, wood crafters, Miss Amy's Honeys, and many more.

Any artisan or crafter is encouraged to apply for a booth - as long as their products are made by them in their own studio or space. "Our September Craft Fair/Festival will be September 22 and September 23- we are looking for presenters such as candlemakers, blacksmithing, weavers, and saddle makers as our September show grows," Nadeau noted.

Everyone is welcome to attend and shop at the Craft Fair and admission is free. The Fair will be open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"All crafters have hand made their items - come out and support them. Let's give Amazon.com a run for their money," Nadeau added.

Second House Museum is located at 12 2nd House Road in Montauk. For more information, visit www.montaukhistoricalsociety.org.
