This Valentine's Day, don't fret about finding the perfect gift for your special someone because the Valentine Craftmarket is returning to Ashawagh Hall in Springs to solve all your shopping dilemmas.

"There are so few places in the East Hampton area to buy affordable original gift items, so the Valentine Craftmarket at Ashawagh Hall is a must attend for me each year," noted Mary Spitzer, retired teacher/acting coach. "Some vendors are regulars (my particular favorite is jewelry by Jamie Lerner) and some are new, so there is always variety and something to feast one's eyes on even if not purchasing."

If you think your Valentine is getting a little bored with the same old red roses and a box of chocolates year after year, think outside the box with something unique and locally made. Every item available at the Craftmarket was handcrafted by one of the artisans. Featured items will include photography, cards, prints, felted fibers, scarves, hats, accessories, home décor, wood-ware, framed mirrors, jewelry for women and men, knits for infants and kids, sachets, pillows, crystal sun catchers, essential oils, and all-natural and organic soaps, as well as small-batch artisanal sweets - such as preserves, cookies, cakes, condiments, fudge, vegan truffles, biscotti, meringues, hard candy and more.

"The handmade articles by local artists are professionally crafted and the quality is not to be matched by our East End high-priced corporate stores," added Spitzer. "A fun time to browse, meet friends old and new, and get those impossible-to-find-elsewhere gifts for your loved ones."

This year's participants will include James Katsipis Photography, shark tooth jewelry from Bella Ornaf's Fin Montauk, wood-ware and home decor from Brian Schopfer's Grain Surfboards, knit hats from Betsy Peerless' 1000 Peaks, options for infants and kids from Yu-lu Bouvier's Luluknits, Melissa Sabbatino's Peconic Preserves, Christine Moran's Nauti Gal Soaps, jewelry for women and men from Jamie Lerner's Swing Gems, Caitlin Baringer Photography, confections and baked goods from Kristi Hood and Jennie Ellis' Springs General Store, Dee Moore's Sachets, Kristin King Davey's Sag Harbor Essential Oils, Tracy Jamar Fiberworks and Peggie Ehlers' Nunaknits.

"If you never have been to the Valentine Craft Market, don't walk -- run! You will find exciting and affordable gifts for yourself or for someone special from a variety of artisans," explained Gabriele Raacke, artist. "I enjoyed the handmade jewelry and even years later, people compliment my earrings and scarves I bought there."

The one-day only Valentine Craftmarket will take place on Saturday, February 4th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ashawagh Hall is located at 780 Springs Fireplace Road in East Hampton. For more information, visit ashawagh-hall.org.
