While over the past 20 years beloved athletic apparel company lululemon and high intensity interval workout Barry’s Bootcamp have collaborated many times, this summer marks their biggest one to date – the Stronger as One collection.
“Honestly, if two brands could be soul sisters Barry’s and lululemon would be it. We are both celebrating 20 years and have each changed the fitness landscape along the way,” Corey Malanga Hartnack, Barry’s Bootcamp Chief Retail Officer, said about collaborating with lululemon. “We share so many of the same core values and philosophies so it’s been natural and smooth from the beginning.”
The collection, which took over a year to get just right, was created with the high intensity training and treadmill workouts that take place in Barry’s Red Room in mind.
“It’s definitely the biggest global partnership we’ve ever done! Also, because both teams were so invested in this we were able to create a really balanced and full collection together – we’ve got everything from the core technical product to the fun and sexy outerwear pieces to the most functional gym bags and hats,” Malanga Hartnack noted. “It’s all there and curated 100% for the Barry’s experience.”
Men’s offerings include jackets, hoodies, tanks, t-shirts, joggers, and shorts – that aptly feature anti-stink technology, abrasion-resistant panels, and quick-drying fabric, while the women’s line includes jackets, hoodies, tanks, bras, tights, and shorts – with loads of Mesh fabric, and low arm holes – for maximum ventilation. The collection also features hats, a duffle, and tote.
“There are so many things to consider from the equipment and programming involved in each class to how we can design functional pieces that improve the experience. Sweat is real. Fabric needs to dry, wick and not feel heavy,” Malanga Hartnack explained about designing a line specifically for a HIIT class. “Clothing should never be in the way – it should be a solution and help you hit your goals. For women that means no metal on the back of your clothing. For men, it might mean a compression liner that is just right.”
The Stronger as One collection is available in select lululemon stores, lululemon.com, and in all Barry’s studios, including the Southampton, Wainscott, and Amagansett Barry’s Bootcamp.
