After taking a challenging barre-less Exhale barre class, we caught up with Beth Stern
, who hosted the festival.
What does your normal fitness routine look like?
My husband and I love the outdoors - whether we walk three or four miles a day or take a jog or walk on the beach or a group class, which I go to sometimes. It's every single day I definitely move my body or I'll feel terrible about myself. So everyday there's some sort of exercise or outdoor activity.
And since you've very involved with animal rescue, do you ever incorporate the animals into your workouts?
I'm on my feet all day long with the kittens and so many litter boxes you have to bend over. My husband says to me, "You don't even have to do the five mile walk this morning. You were on your feet all day long with the foster kittens." So yes, I guess I'm holding kittens and leaning over for litter boxes, scooping poop all day.
What about music? Does that play a role in your fitness routine?
My husband always has music on. We both like to run and walk with no music, but when we get home that's when we like to listen to music together.
What do you guys like to do when you're in the Hamptons?
We love everything about the Hamptons - just being together looking out at the beautiful wildlife that surrounds us, going out to an early dinner, taking beach walks, being active together. Nothing makes us happier than being out here. It's really our joy.
How has fitness played a role in your life overall?
Since I was little, my family is a very athletic family. Sports are in our blood. I always played team sports growing up and I just turned 46-years-old and it's still a big part of my life - being active.
Are you working on anything at the moment?
I'm just about to tape the Kitten Bowl V for Hallmark Channel. We just rounded up 100 kittens, all of our cat leads are ready to go.
Any local ones?
Most of them are local rescues.
