The Hamptons Pet List: This Weeks Standout Pet Events

This happens to be a big event week in The Hamptons for homeless animals, pets, and their people. Come out and help raise money for some homeless animals, salute pet philanthropists, or ride a pony to save the horses. Herewith, this weeks' not to miss pet events.

1. Paws Across The Hamptons Dog Walk. Saturday, June 9, 2012. Grab your pooch and a cup of complimentary Hamptons Coffee and come to Lola Prentice Park in Southampton for a dog walk to benefit The Southampton Animal Shelter from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Jim Turner will be supplying the music, goodie bags, and more. $35 benefits the shelters' homeless animals. 2. PET FEST! Saturday, June 9, 2012. Bring your dog or come with the kids 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to the largest pet event the Hamptons has ever seen! Twenty-four rescue groups will be on hand including The Southampton Animal Shelter, ARF, Last Chance, Amaryllis Horse Rescue and Gimme Shelter. Many pets for adoption and many vendors on hand selling pet items. Some top dog performers will be on hand entertaining the crowds, including Dancing Golden Retrievers and High Flying Frisbee Dogs! Last Chance Animal Rescue will host a Costume Contest and Prancing Pet Parade. Portrait artists and photographers will be on hand to take photographs of the day too. Live music, 'Ask The Dog Trainer' and Vet Booths, and more! This will be the must not miss pet event of the season! $10 for adults free for kids and dogs. 3. Pet Hero Awards Ceremony. Saturday, June 9, 2012. Join The Pet Philanthropy Circle from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. as they honor this years' pet heroes in an elegant cocktail reception. "The Sopranos" star Aida Turturro will be handing the Humaitarian of the Year Award to NBC "Today" correspondant and Water Mill's own Jill Rappaport. Also being honored are Pilots N Paws, Jonathan McCann and The Southampton Animal Shelter for Shelter of The Year, Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyards for Political Action, and more! $50 at 6 p.m. for one hour cocktail reception with the award winners. 4. Pony Rides! Sunday, June 10, 2012. Bring the kids to the Green Thumb Organic Farmstand in Water Mill for pony rides to benefit The Amaryllis Horse Sanctuary from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. "Big Boy" and "Butterscotch" are two pony pros who will give your kids a nice ride and help raise money to feed and care for all the equines who are homeless at Amaryllis.
