All Weather All Terrain Fitness (AWATfit) — a Hamptons-based mobile fitness franchise formerly known as Any Where, Any Time Fitness — is donating 25 percent of class costs to Mashashimuet Park’s playground fund in Sag Harbor. Over the next two months, AWATfit is hosting classes in the park and donating $10 from each member’s $40 class fee.
“Giving back to my community is incredibly important to me,” said Richard Decker, CEO and founder of AWATfit. “Not only will this donation help improve the park for the children of the community, it will also help to promote new business ventures to those who attend the classes.”
AWATfit’s goal is to raise $25,000 for Mashashimuet Park, which is privately run by the Parks and Recreation Association of Sag Harbor, a 501(c) 3 charity. The Sag Harbor outdoor oasis provides visitors with healthy recreational opportunities to be connected to nature – including hiking trails, tennis, youth sporting events, kite flying, picnics, bird watching and meditation. AWATfit mobilizes fitness with their specialty trucks with build-in equipment designed for group training events in wide-open spaces.
“AWATfit is an attractive prospect for someone in the fitness industry who wants to own their own business, and I’m hopeful that this fundraiser might be the best way to reach those who might not yet know their potential,” Decker added.
Decker said he has found that during the pandemic, the demand for local training service options has increased because people are weary of working out in enclosed spaces. He said not only does exercising outside decrease germ exposure, but boosts mood and energy levels.
In early 2016, The Park & Recreation Association of Sag Harbor (“The Park Board”) launched the Campaign 4 The Playground in support of the new Mashashimuet Park playground. Playground company Kompan, which is spearheading the project, began construction in October 2018.
