Weekly visits to the beach not relaxing enough? Want to make your summer in the Hamptons even more Zen? Check out the Parrish Art Museum’s yoga and meditation sessions.
Yoga on the Terrace with Ananda will return to the Parrish on Sunday, July 5th. The weekly class will be held on Sundays at 11 a.m. The program is open to participants at all levels and is aimed to help reach a quiet mental state that may enhance the experience of viewing art in the Museum. Participants are encouraged to visit the galleries after the class. Yoga on the Terrace is presented in partnership with Southampton’s Ananda Wellness and Yoga Center.
Their new class, Meditation Mondays with Julie Sacks, will be held on Mondays at 9:30 a.m. The 30-minute session gives participants access to the galleries for meditation before the Museum opens to the public. Classes will be held in a different gallery each week and will involve a 15-minute meditation. The program, which kicks off on Monday, July 6th, is suited for all levels.
According to Andrea Grover, the Century Arts Foundation Curator of Special Projects at the Parrish Art Museum, and Amy Kirwin, Visitor Services and Museum Programs Manager, both Yoga on the Terrace with Ananda and Mediation Mondays with Julie Sacks were created to offer the community the opportunity to enjoy the Museum’s singular location and experience art in a quieter frame of mind.
Both programs are free for members, $10 for non-members, and free for children and students. Attending the class includes museum admission.
