Southampton - An agreement between people with different ideas and expectations is best accomplished with the use of meticulous communication skills. This is applicable in our businesses, in landscaping design, in new home construction and even in Plastic Surgery.
A visual goal - whether real or on paper - allows for expectations of outcome. Often a goal for a project may change the way in which that goal is reached. In the field of Plastic Surgery a visual goal for a planned procedure is vital to meeting the patient's specific expectations.
Computer imaging is now available in many plastic surgery offices across the country to serve as not only a mark or goal for surgery but as a tangible product on which a fee for service rendered is placed. Unexpressed or unrealized expectations for plastic surgery are the most common reason for disgruntled patients. The result obtained by the surgeon may be very adequate but if it fails to meet the goal set by the patient, then the whole process has failed.
Computer imaging can serve to ensure that the expectations of the patient are expressed in a media that is negotiable and easily communicated to all involved. If your surgeon has not outlined his goal for your procedure and or if you have not adequately expressed your desired outcome, achieving success is less likely.
Imaging is only a goal towards which your surgeon will work but all the same it is a goal that helps to define your most successful outcome. Below are a few before and after profile shots along with the patients agreed upon goal towards which the surgeon worked - you can see a high degree of similarity. Asking to see surgeon and patient goals and the achieved outcome will help you, the consumer, to judge your surgeon's ability to meet established goals.
