Greenport - Eastern Long Island Hospital announced the appointment of Harold D. Hansen to the Board of Trustees at Eastern Long Island Hospital for the Class of 2010. Retired from his own publishing company in 1998, Hansen has over 50 of years experience in public relations and public service. Serving in the State Senate for Connecticut, Hansen helped lay the groundwork for the passing of the "Bottle Bill" requiring deposits for reusable beverage containers. He was the on-site publicist during the Nigerian prime minister's state visit to the United States at the invitation of President Kennedy.

Hansen graduated from Pace University with a major in English literature and a minor in business administration. Pre-deceased by his wife, June, of 26 years, he is the father of twins, now 51 years old, David and Valerie. He lost his second wife, Roberta, after 27 years. The couple moved to Peconic Landing in 2002 where he currently resides.

"Harold's interest and experience in politics and public relations is a definite plus for ELIH. His contributions and insights will be invaluable to the Board," states Paul J. Connor, III, President/CEO. "As a Peconic Landing resident, he is an able spokesperson for seniors on the North Fork, as well as, a well-informed advocate for judicious healthcare reform."
