Tom McGwire appointed to Board of Directors. (ELIH)
- Eastern Long Island Hospital today announced the appointment of Thomas A. McGwire to the Board of Directors of the ELIH Foundation. A resident of Peconic for 23 years, McGwire spent his earlier years in Pelham, NY. The father of two grown children, a son, Thomas Jr. and daughter, Mary, McGwire has seven grandchildren. His interests include golf and his community hospital.
McGwire graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Vermont in 1954 and served in the United States Army until 1957. Manufacturing heaters for the oil and plastics industries for 34 years, McGwire served as the CEO of Industrial Heater Co. Inc. and previously worked as a field representative for Exxon.
McGwire's past community service positions include Secretary for North Fork Country Club, United Way, Society of Plastics Industry and Society of Plastic Engineers. He is currently the CEO of Topeka Realty Co. Inc.
"Tom will be very instrumental in identifying the fiscal needs for the ELIH Foundation," notes Foundation Chairman, Z. Micah Kaplan, MD. "He is an organized individual who in very interested in hospital operations and wants to ensure that the medical resources for Eastern Long Island and especially those at Eastern Long Island Hospital continue to be viable for the community."
