I cannot imagine 7 foot of snow, it would certainly tower above most of us. Snow to me is all very exciting until you have to go out in it to work etc then it is a nuisance.

bchbum11968 says::
It depends on what area of the country has the snow. The southern states are not used to it so it causes major havoc for them. An inch will throw them. The northern states have more equipment and are used to dealing with it. However, Boston Mass is having major problems even with "being used to it". Over 90" of snow creates many serious problems..like what to do with all the snow. It piles so high there is no place to put it. Emergency vehicles have trouble, fire hydrants are not accessible. Public transportation is at a standstill. Deliveries can't get in. Maine is in the same predicament, just imagine over 7 feet of snow!!

Thank you. I did wonder. I have been fascinated by the all the snow. We have only got to have 2" of snow to fall in the UK for chaos to break out big time. You seem to take it all in your stride in the States. I love looking at the cameras.

Mo, what I think you are looking at on the Earth Cam TV is Hamptons, New Hampshire. This cam is in Southampton New York and it is part of a geographical area on the eastern Long Island New York called The Hamptons.

How come on the World Wide TV Cam the snow look really deep and yet it supposed to be the Beach at the Hamptons and yet the road scene shows hardly any snow. Is this the same area - I am in the UK and do not know the area.

What happened to the webcam that was on Main St. in Southampton that was running several years back? Fun to see people walking by in the summer and snow on the sidewalk in the winter.

"Wow, I thought I sucked at selecting Christmas gifts, until I re-read the Scriptures. The Magi. The three wise guys. What were these boys thinking? This Kid, Christ, is laying in an animal manger, outside, in the weather. His family obviously can't afford a pot to piss in, and you, Melchior, give Him gold? What are you a wise guy? Gold? What is this Kid going to do with a piece of gold? It won't keep Him warm. He can't eat it, and His parents won't let Him play with it. And you, Caspar, frankincense? What are you a wise guy? The Kids laying in a manger stinking of goat crap and pig piss. He needs Mr. Bubble bath soap, not incense, and He's not allowed to play with fire anyway. But the one that intrigues me the most is you, Balthazar, myrrh? What are you a wise guy? Embalming fluid? Really? I can't give my grandson toys that are too small or toxic, but you give a Newborn a bottle of embalming fluid to play with? Was the store out of gun powder? You three got through the first Christmas without too much attention, what with the birth of a Savior and all, but next year, for Christs sake, do a little homework. In a word; Thomas The Tank Engine. Remember, Savior or not, He's still just a Kid."- Barry Stuart Moskowitz

2014 Polar Plunge - It was a great day. Brilliant sun, calm ocean and lots of very "dedicated" folks. Lots of great costumes and enthusiasm. It's always a blast to attend this event -even though this year I was not wacky enough to jump in.. There's always next year. Cooper's Beach is a gem as are the people of Southampton. I am grateful to experience and know both.. I'm goin' in next year!!!!! :-) DD

I love the Hamptons. Dad and I used to go fishing out there in the 60's and 70's. He had a small cottage there....Such a great place!

Guest from Houston, Texas suburb says::
Agreed. I too miss the Hamptons. My parents had a house there in the 60's and 70's. Since I've been to Hawaii, etc... and I wouldn't trade any vacation, yacht or sports car for the time I was in the Hamptons. It's a special memory I will never forget. If I wasn't so far, I would consider buying a house there but I don't want the responsibility when I'm not there... like winterizing, renting, etc... . For those still there, cherish it and save it for future generations.

I was born in Southampton in 1963. And lived there till 2004. Then lived in Hamilton & Robbinsville NJ till 2013. Now I live in Round Rock TX. I miss the HAMPTONS so much. And all the C R A Z Y S that come there in the summer. In my 20's I had bumper sticker made that read. SAVE THE HAMPTONS ...HIT A WEEKENDER. IT was bright yellow with lager capital letters. SO some day soon I will make a trip HOME. To the HAMPTONS.
