Cocktail aficionados are going to want to head to George’s Lighthouse Café on Monday, August 20 to watch as top bartenders from “The End” throw down during Montauk’s inaugural bartending competition.
Taking place from 4 p.m. to sunset, local mixologists will compete in a variety of different challenges during the Montauk Bartending Championship – such as Keg Carry, Tap & Pour; Pop & Pour; an Obstacle Course; Best Cocktail; and Talent Competition. While the event is only open to those that work at Montauk bars and restaurants, all are invited to witness the fierce competition.
“I wanted to create something fun for those in the industry, as well as entertaining for spectators to watch,” George’s Lighthouse Café owner, Mike Torriero said. “It’s the perfect time of year to celebrate the best behind the bar.”
Montauk Bartending Championship is bringing in Paul Monte and other well-known Montauk locals to serve as judges, and top honors will be bestowed to the winners in each of the five categories.
The inaugural bartending competition will feature at least 15 participants – including everybody’s favorites from Memory Motel, Shagwong, Gig Shack, Gurney’s, Tauk and more.
George’s Lighthouse Café is located at 1999 Montauk Point State Parkway, Montauk. For more information, visit www.montaukbartendingchampionship.com.
