Frutti Di Mare Seafood Eatery Opens In the Hamptons

Hampton Bays - Southampton resident's Chef Marco Barrila and Sheila Minkel to open Frutti Di Mare, "The art of Mediterranean fish and seafood" in Hampton Bays at 105 W. Montauk Highway. The Hampton residents and entrepreneurs are also partners in Insatiable Eats Catering Company which has operated for the last five years in the Hamptons and New York City. Prior to working in Long Island, Chef Barrila, born and raised in Messina, Sicily, worked as executive chef in high profile restaurants in Manhattan for over 15 years. Frutti Di Mare opens on October 10.

Frutti Di Mare's unique approach to fast healthy seafood is two-fold. Chef Barrila explains, "I will first incorporate the art of frying seafood Mediterranean style," (which includes the use of old recipes and authentic techniques used by his ancestors along the shores of Sicily). Second, Frutti Di Mare's dishes are prepared using the most modern of food preparation techniques including preparing locally caught fresh fish in advanced vegetable oils that are non-trans fat and are cholesterol free. My preparation technique allows us to offer our customers gourmet seafood quickly," triumphs Chef Barrila.

Co-owner, Minkel states, "Frutti Di Mare is making healthy meals available in minutes that are both affordable and delicious from an eco-friendly green restaurant that supports local food producers and fishermen. We plan to keep our dishes new and exciting year round by changing our preparation styles and offering new adventures for seafood lovers."

Frutti Di Mare serves locally sourced ingredients in their dishes. Stand out menu specials include their crab hush puppies, lobster roll, and oyster, clam and shrimp PoBoy sandwiches. Other highlights are their lobster bisque, clam chowders and desserts which include hot apple crumb, blueberry crumb, pecan pie, key lime pie and chocolate black out cake. Daily specials will include signature dishes created by Frutti Di Mare's award winning chef. Also available at Frutti Di Mare are, "Mare Meals" for Kids with special gifts and "Moto Meals," which are daily meals for only $10.

The restaurant will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The food will be available for dine in, take-out and delivery from Westhampton to Bridgehampton and West of including Sag Harbor. They will also be offering platters and trays for catered events via pick up or delivery and are available for pick up, delivery or with with full service for any size for private or public events.

difficult to find but well worth it. Yhis is a fish lovers gem - very fresh fish expertly prepared. Chef Marco was prepared to prepare our bay scallops any way we wanted - lightly breaded they were sweet and correctly cooked. Lobster bisque and Manhattan clam chowder were worthy of a five star restaurant. My fish & chips - cod in delicate tempura batter could not be bettered - this from an english born lover of fish & chips!. The chips (fries) are hand cut and again cooked to perfection. We loved our lunch and am anxious to return to try other items om their menu.

Of course you can. Our food is prepared by order and we can customize in the way our guests want it. Also, we do steamed, roasted...and grilled. Also, we do orders by request. For example, if you love lobster fra diavolo, we do specials by advance order. All of our seafood is local, featuring salmon, tuna, sea scallops, whiting, local cod, etc. etc. So, please come and try our new concept. Fresh, quick seafood done by orders.
