Tate’s Bake Shop’s Whole Wheat Wheat Dark Chocolate Chip Cookie Selected As A Silver Finalist

Southampton - Food lovers rejoice! Tate's Bake Shop's sophisticated favorite - the Whole Wheat Dark Chocolate Chip Cookie - is selected as a Silver Finalist in the Cookie category in the 2011 sofi™ Awards. Presented by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade, the sofi Awards recognize excellence in specialty foods and beverages in 33 categories and are known as the Oscar® of the specialty food industry.

Kathleen King first debuted her whole wheat dark chocolate chip cookies in her Southampton bakery, Tate's Bake Shop in 2009. The cookie quickly became a top seller, following the classic chocolate chip and simple oatmeal raisin, and is now distributed to gourmet retailers and grocery stores throughout the US.

The cookies are thin and crispy - like the classic Tate's Chocolate Chip variety - and include whole wheat flour and rich, sophisticated, dark chocolate chips. The resulting deep, full taste and whole grain-healthiness make these cookies appealing to food lovers, healthy-cookie enthusiasts and chocolate lovers alike. This nomination marks award-winning baker King's 4th sofi nod since 2006.

The cookies will be available for sampling at Tate's Booth #2609 during the Fancy Food Show in Washington, DC July 10 through July 12. Milk not included.

The Gold winner will be announced by Food Network host Cat Cora on July 11 in Washington, DC.

Additionally, Tate's Bake Shop welcomes those lazy, hazy and crazy days of summer with Sun Smiley Cupcakes - hot out of the oven fun available in chocolate or yellow cake. Available in moist chocolate and mouthwatering yellow cake with the-perfect-amount-of-sweet vanilla butter-cream icing for $3.50/each, the cupcake pairs perfectly with Tate's iced lattes and Plain-T teas.
