Amagansett Food Institute will host the first demonstration of a new series, Seasonal Cooking, at South Fork Kitchens on Wednesday, September 12, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Located on Stony Brook Southampton Campus, twelve participants, along with special guest host Terence McGuire of Homeslice Pizza & Catering, will gather around a custom built wood fired oven during Cast Iron Cooking with Pasture Finished Beef
to learn the techniques and skill of cooking with cast iron.
Using local beef and produce, a rancher from Acabonac Farms will speak about the different cuts of meats as well as discuss the benefits of grass fed pasture raised beef. Products from South Forks Kitchens will be used in the meal making as well.
"We are thrilled to invite members of the community to our table to learn from Acabonac farm ranchers and oven fired pizza extraordinaire Terry McGuire," said Heather Meehan of Amagansett Food Institute. "As members of this community invested in building a sustainable regional food system, they have much to offer those curious about eating and purchasing local food."
