This spring, Montauk Asset Holdings (MAH), a new hospitality group owned by Apollo Global Management co-founder, Marc Rowan
, that encompasses a growing collection of Hamptons-based restaurants, including Montauk's Duryea's Lobster Deck
, will launch Lulu Kitchen & Bar
in Sag Harbor.
Taking over the former location of Doppio Artisan Bistro on Main Street, the new bistro will be open year-round, starting in late March or early April, and showcase woodburning cuisine. Patrons can expect a laid back lounge-like dining space in the front of the 1,800 square foot space that will highlight the eatery's expansive views of Main Street. Diners can choose to park it in a cozy leather chair and baquettes with wood tables, at the impressive large zinc topped bar, or when the weather permits, at a table under the awning of the outdoor patio.
, a French-trained chef with several years of experience in Michelin-star rated restaurants, will helm the kitchen. Corbet, who also has experience at local Long Island restaurants, most recently led Arbor's culinary experience. In addition to curating a woodburning cuisine centered menu, which is a lifelong dream of Corbet's, Lulu Kitchen & Bar will also emphasize local products.
Seafood platters will feature Montauk Pearl oysters, Bonac razor clams and tuna tartrate, which will be available throughout the day. Other locally inspired dishes include Duck leg confit with frisee salad, Mecox blue cheese, raspberry Dijon mustard vinaigrette; Grilled heirloom cauliflower with spicy LI grapes, toasted sesame, tahini and white balsamic vinaigrette and mint oil; and a signature Lulu cheeseburger served on a housemade brioche bun with Mecox cheddar, smoked pickles, heirloom tomato, gem lettuce, grilled onions and fries. And, of course, there will be a vast wood fired pizza menu that will boast unique creations like a Market pizza with prosciutto, onions, raclette cheese and tomatoes or the Terrior with Crescent duck sausage, broccolini, roasted garlic puree, fontina and fresh oregano.
Patrons will be able to work up an appetite as they watch in awe as their meal is prepared in the open kitchen that is anchored by the woodburning grill and oven, and the open garde manger station that showcases fresh vegetables will provide an entertaining view of the cold items being prepared.
Steven Jauffrineau will serve as Lulu Kitchen & Bar's Managing Director. Jauffrineau's lengthy resume includes stints at the highly acclaimed French bistro La Goulue in Manhattan, Sunset Beach
in Shelter Island, and Montauk's Duryea's and Arbor. "Lulu Kitchen & Bar is excited to offer the Sag Harbor community a new dining experience," shared Jauffrineau. "We plan to embrace the local culture year round offering locally driven cuisine with friendly service."
The menu will also include weekly specials like Monday's Bouillbaise and Tuesday's Chef's Mussels, all you can eat.
Lulu Kitchen & Bar will be open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, as well as brunch on Sundays. A special late night menu will be offered nightly from 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
