On Thursday, December 15th, take a break from holiday baking and impress the community with your sensational seasonal creations during the Southampton Historical Museum
's annual Cookie Exchange at the Rogers Mansion
. Whether your specialty is sugar cookies, ginger bread, molasses drops, shortbread, linzer cookies, pfeffernusse or something unexpected, the annual festive gathering is a chance to meet up with other local bakers, learn a new secret ingredient or two, enjoy refreshments and celebrate the holidays.
Attendees will have the opportunity to bring home dozens of beautiful, festively decorated, homemade cookies that were made from scratch. In return, guests are asked to come with two to three dozen freshly made cookies that they can trade with other cookie exchange participants. Additionally, attendees must bring along copies of their recipes, as well as a tray to display your cookies and a container to take home the sweets they swapped for in.
The evening will also include a discussion with dessert guru Kathleen King
, the former owner of Tate's Bake Shop
, who will take part in a brief conservation that will cover her adoration of cookies and how they shaped her life.
"It will be a wonderful event where people can gather and swap family recipes and holiday memories," added Nicole Hart of Southampton Historical Museum.
Admission is $15 per person and pre-registartion is required. The Cookie Exchange will begin at 4 p.m.
The Rogers Mansion is located at 17 Meeting House Lane in Southampton. To RSVP, call 631-283-2494 or visit www.southamptonhistoricalmuseum.org.
