Looking to spice up your hostess game this summer? Head to the Westhampton Library, who is presenting an entertaining, informative new lunchtime program.

"Libraries and book clubs have always been the perfect recipe, so a cookbook club seemed a logical addition," explained Nola Thacker, Program Coordinator at the Library. "Other East End libraries, such as Shelter Island, have launched similar programs, so we borrowed their format and tweaked it a little to include those involved in the local food scene, such as Justin's Chop Shop in Westhampton and North Fork chef and cookbook author John Ross."

The Cookbook Club will debut on Friday, June 3rd at 12 p.m. with The Thrill of the Grill with Justin of Justin's Chop Shop.

"We choose a theme for each meeting and the cost of registration is one potluck dish in keeping with that theme," noted Thacker. "And of course, we have plenty of cookbooks and cooking magazines on hand for inspiration!"

During the first meeting, Justin will explain and show attendees how to make any barbecue memorable, and since it's all about the bold flavors, the afternoon will include tastings. For those questioning what potluck to bring, browse through the Library's wide variety of barbecue cookbooks to find a muse.

The next meeting will take place on Friday, August 5th at 12 p.m. It will feature Fresh and Local, hosted by John Ross. "In August, the Cookbook Club is going local. North Fork chef John Ross, a pioneer in the Farm to Table movement, food columnist and author, will lead a locavore adventure with recipes - and samples - that feature the best of Long Island," she added. "The cost of registration is one potluck dish/side dish that includes a locally grown or produced East End food item. And of course, the Library has Chef Ross's books, as well as many others, to provide inspiration."

Registration and a dish/side dish are required.

Westhampton Free Library is located at 7 Library Avenue in Westhampton Beach. For more information, call 631-288-3335 or visit westhamptonlibrary.net.
