Noah's restaurant in Greenport is the latest North Fork eatery to be awarded Slow Food East End's prestigious new Snail of Approval. The chapter's Board of Leaders approved Noah's nomination at their monthly meeting in May.
The Snail of Approval honors local businesses that showcase the ideals of Slow Food, including good, clean, and fair food, into all aspects of their food operation. When dining at a restaurant that has been awarded with this honor, you know you'll be enjoying a meal that features quality food that is mostly local and sustainably raised and grown. The mission of the East End Chapter is to spread the word about the advantages (health, economic, environmental) of eating locally and seasonally.
Noah Schwartz, chef and owner of Noah's, along with his wife, plans the eatery's dishes according to the season and what is locally available. His menus focus largely on seafood. Embracing the "From Farm to Fork" movement, the chef sources from a large number of local producers and vendors for both food and wine. The restaurant has received numerous other accolades and Chef Noah has been lauded by Best Chefs America in both 2012 and 2013.
