Jason Kidd wrapped up his night around a tree late Saturday. He spent his early evening hours with his wife Porschla Coleman at Ne-Yo's Compound Foundation event held in East Hampton honoring George Lucas. After the charity event, Kidd was seen at the nightclub SL East in East Hampton where numerous pictures were taken of him having a great time with friends and near tables piled with drinks.

He decided to drive home around 2 a.m. and skidded his way into a telephone pole on Cobb Road, Water Mill. He was first brought to Southampton Hospital and treated for minor injuries and then released to Southampton Town Police who arrested him for DWI. The most he can receive for a first time misdemeanor would be one year in jail or a $2,500 fine.

Holding a position as a role model and pro-athlete with 18 exceptional years in the NBA and two Olympic Gold Medals to his credit, newly signed to the New York Knicks as of July 5, one hopes that this incident will act as a reminder and example for other people in the spotlight of the repercussions of one mistake. His job, reputation and respect have all taken a hit.
