A new East End COVID-19 vaccination site has opened at the American Legion on Bay Street in Sag Harbor.
Appointments will be open to those 50-years-old and older, teachers (P-12 public/private school), and those 18-years-old and older with a qualifying comorbidity.
For the first day of the pop up White’s Apothecary vaccination clinic at the American Legion, Mayor Kathleen Mulcahy noted that the location had received 100 doses of the Moderna vaccine. The site expects weekly vaccine deliveries for clinics to be held on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays.
Those who book an appointment are advised: “You will be required to show a valid NY identification when you arrive for your appointment (Drivers License for age or Teacher Badge/Pay Stub). Please bring your insurance card (Medicare or commercial insurance, if you do NOT have insurance you will still be vaccinated) Be prepared to spend a total of 30 minutes to fill out paperwork, verify your paperwork, receive the vaccine, and wait for 15 minutes to be observed for adverse reactions. Please wear a short sleeve shirt to your vaccination appointment. We encourage that you fill out paperwork before your appointment and bring with you.”
Currently, New Yorkers 30-years-old and older are eligible to receive the vaccine, and on April 6, New Yorkers 16-years-old and older will be eligible to receive the vaccine.
“As we continue to expand eligibility, New York will double down on making the vaccine accessible for every community to ensure equity, particularly for communities of color who are too often left behind,” Governor Andrew Cuomo said. “We can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but until we get there it is more important than ever for each and every New Yorker to wear a mask, socially distance and follow all safety guidelines.”
