In early October, Quogue Library patrons channeled their creativity to design custom scarecrows that will be showcased throughout Quogue as part of the Second Annual Quogue Library Scarecrow Stroll. The autumnal celebration will be on view from Monday, October 19 to Monday, November 9.

"The creativity and dedication that Quogue families put on display are delightful. We enjoy offering opportunities that engage the community and encourage connection," Susan McKenna, Director of Operations at Quogue Library, expressed.

McKenna continued, "Quogue Library is happy we could continue the Scarecrow Stroll for a second year, despite the need for social distance. It is a playful yet safe way for residents to connect without contact, lift their spirits, and brighten their days."

The fall feature can be seen along Jessup Avenue and the pond (the corner of Midland Avenue and Jessup Avenue). Last year's themes included witches, librarian, bride, cowgirl, baseball players, Star Wars and more.

"Last year, having scarecrows made by families and groups was a great, creative activity. The imaginative and whimsical designs around the pond and on Jessup Avenue added a lot of fun to our downtown," Peter Sartorius, Mayor, Village of Quogue, added. "I am so pleased that the Quogue Library is undertaking the project again in 2020, and am looking forward to the even better creations by people now that they have a year under their belt."

After the success of the inaugural iteration in 2019, the Library also hosted a winter 'Snowman Stroll' and summer 'Shark Week.'
