Light the Night Winter Trail has been postponed to Saturday, February 1.

On Saturday, January 25, Quogue Wildlife Refuge will be whimsically illuminated once again for its yearly Light the Night Winter Trail Walks.

During the eye-catching event, attendees will marvel at the Refuge and its residence during a self-guided nighttime stroll with the trails gently brightened. "The forest is lit up and feels enchanted and magical," Marisa Nelson, Quogue Wildlife Refuge Assistant Director, relayed.

When attendees are in need of a warm up, stop by the Nature Center where there is a cozy fireplace and there will also be hot cocoa and cookies available for purchase. "In the effort to be green, we are asking guests to BYOM (bring your own travel mug/cup) for a discount on hot cocoa," Nelson noted.

While the popular winter stroll has typically only been held once a year, for its 5th iteration Quogue Wildlife Refuge will host a special romantic, self-guided stroll on Friday, February 14. "We are thrilled to add an adults only Light the Night Winter Trail Walk on Valentine's Day, as it will be a quieter walk through the forest than the family friendly evening," Nelson shared. The Valentine's Day affair is only open to adults. Admission is $10 and the trail will be open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

"This is a fun way to get out and enjoy yourself and the forest on a cold dark winter's night!" Nelson added.

Admission to the Light the Night Winter Trail Walks is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. Check in will be inside the Nature Center. Light the Night will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m., with arrivals scheduled every 15 minutes. The rain date is Saturday, February 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Founded in 1934, the Quogue Wildlife Refuge is a 300 acre non-profit nature preserve that is open 365 days a year. Home to an array of wildlife, refuge guests can explore miles of trails where they will find a myriad of habitats, including forests and ponds, as well as the ecologically rare Dwarf Pines in the Pine Barrens. The Refuge's mission is "to serve as a responsible land steward of the Refuge property and its natural resources, while promoting, implementing and supporting environmental education."

Light the Night Winter Trail Walk has been postponed to Saturday, February 1.

Quogue Wildlife Refuge is located at 3 Old Country Road in Quogue. For more information, call 631-653-4771 or visit quoguewildliferefuge.org.
