The second annual “Hamptons Barking Beauty Pageant”, benefiting RSVP Animal Rescue Group and Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (WHBPAC) Children’s Arts Academy, returns to the East End at Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Thursday, August 29.
The Barking Beauty Pageant, founded in 2006, has helped support many community projects and animal rescue groups, through various pageants in New York City, Philadelphia and New Jersey. The East End iteration will feature the cutest dogs in the Hamptons, local businesses and Kennedy Art Productions, who will join forces to raise money through this unique pageant.
Leslie Kennedy, creator of the pageant, will host this year’s event with her cute Yorkshire Terrier, SalliSue.
“Any dog is eligible – young, old, male or female, full breed or mixed, big or small – all are welcome,” she explained, “We’ve had male and female winners, mixed breeds, even a big dog, a pittie won one year! It’s so fun to see all these cute dogs and to experience the love they share with their parents – just like me and SalliSue.”
RSVP Animal Rescue Group is thrilled to be a part of this year’s pageant.
“We are so happy to be included as a beneficiary of this event, and are so looking forward to it. I think this is going to be one of the highlights of our year,” said Lillian Lennon, President of RSVP, Inc.
The fun begins at 6 p.m. with the opening cocktail reception, with the show to follow at 8 p.m.
Julienne Penza-Boone, Director of Arts Education for the WHBPAC Arts Academy, added, “What brings more joy to the world than children and animals? We’re so grateful that the proceeds from Barking Beauty Pageant will be benefitting both dogs and WHBPAC Arts Academy programs – all year long, children shine on our stage and now, we’re so excited to see some fabulous pups show off in the WHBPAC spotlight.”
Admission to the pet-friendly event starts at $60.
