The Springs Improvement Society (SIS) will present its 87th Annual Fisherman's Fair on Saturday, August 10.
As one of the most anticipated country fairs on the East End, attendees can expect to watch a clam shucking contest - a Fair first, taste delicious clam dishes, participate in a restaurant raffle, and even enjoy the 52nd annual Springs Artists Invitational Exhibition inside Ashawagh Hall
"The Fisherman's Fair was a Springs Fair and received this name in the 60's when it also became regularly associated with the local AbEx artist's invitational exhibitions. We continue this tradition with clam and other seafood dishes, local crafts and music along with the Springs Artists Invitational," said Carol Mohlenhoff of SIS.
The Fair will also feature a children's area with entertaining enriching activities, including shell painting, treasure chest decorating, spin art and the popular fish print using real fluke, a craft fair, SIS merchandise, live music, local bites, and more.
"We will have some memorabilia highlighting this history as part of the Invitational this year to commemorate our 110th year," she added.
Funds raised during the event will support the upkeep of Ashawagh Hall by the Springs Improvement Society, as well as the Society's scholarship program.
The Fisherman's Fair will take place at Ashawagh Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Ashawagh Hall located at 780 Springs Fireplace Road (corner Old Stone Highway) East Hampton. For more information, visit ashawagh-hall.org.
