The next East Hampton Library Tom Twomey Series event will no doubt be a fascinating happening.

On Saturday, June 29, the Series will present "Washington Update: A Conversation with CBS News' Rita Braver and Attorney Robert Barnett."

"The daily news out of Washington has never been more riveting, and keeping up with it has never been more challenging," Chip Rae, Library Board Member, noted. "At times it can just seem confusing."

During the captivating chat, the renowned husband-and-wife power duo will eschew their typical work roles, with Barnett asking the questions of Braver, offering a unique insiders' perspective of the goings-on of the nation's capital.

"We are very fortunate to have the dynamic duo of Rita Braver and her husband, Bob Barnett, to navigate these choppy waters," Rae added. "Rita is a National CBS News Correspondent based in DC, and Bob is a legendary Washington attorney. Collectively they will provide insights as to where we are, and where we might be headed."

Braver, who has won nine Emmy Awards, covers a wide range of topics at CBS News, including the arts, culture, politics, foreign policy, and more. She joined the Washington Bureau in 1972 as a news desk editor, and then spent a decade as CBS News Chief Law Correspondent (1983-93), offering her input on the CBS Evening News, the CBS Morning News, 48 Hours, Street Stories and Public Eye. During Bill Clinton's first term, she served as CBS's Chief White House Correspondent, and since 1998, she has been Chief National Correspondent for Sunday Morning.

Barnett is a senior partner at the D.C. law firm Williams & Connolly, whose clients have included Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush. Throughout his 30-year career, he has represented a diverse clientele. Currently, he is focused on major corporations in litigation matters, corporate work, contracts, crisis management, transactions, government relations, and media relations, as well as premier authors, television news correspondents and producers, and former government officials in conjunction with their transitions to the private sector.

Admission to the Tom Twomey Series is free, however advanced reservations are requested, as seating is limited.

"Washington Update: A Conversation with CBS News' Rita Braver and Attorney Robert Barnett" will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. and the evening will commence with a complimentary wine reception at 5:30 p.m.
